Autism Acceptance week is a yearly celebration of autistic people with a focus on helping people understand what autism is and improving life conditions for autistic individuals. This week is also a great opportunity to increase acceptance of autistic people in their homes, their communities and workplace. It is usually planned around Autism Acceptance day and this year it is the week of 28 March – 3 April 2022.
There is a number of online and physical events organised on the occasion, some of which are listed below. I also wanted to share a National Autistic Society video created a couple of years ago which I find extremely helpful when trying to explain autism and autistic people’s needs to their family, friends and colleagues. It is obviously simple and miles away from any academic standards, however it does work:
